Jeff and Toya Miskiri

Meet The Miskiris

Chef Jeff was raised in Takoma Park, MD, and attended Blair High School. He began cooking at the age of 8 and by 17 he worked at McDonald’s with his mother and her siblings where they operated eight Washington, DC area locations. He also worked at his family’s Caribbean restaurant where he received an introduction to becoming a restaurateur. These early hospitality experiences with family contributed to his love for cooking, people, and hard work.

After high school, Chef Jeff earned his Associate's Degree in Business Management. While in college, he wrote his first business plan for a Caribbean and Southern cuisine restaurant—a plan that won first place in a competition and a $10,000 grant to help further his dream.

His next stop was Crescent City and after a two-year stay in New Orleans, LA with his great grandfather, where Chef Jeff became well-versed in the heritage, culture, and style of Louisiana’s Creole and Cajun cuisine.

He committed to launching a restaurant in Washington, DC to honor his family’s roots.​ In 2012, that dream became a reality when he opened Po Boy Jim. He furthered this vision in 2020 by launching Creole on 14th and then again in 2021 by launching Suga & Spice.

Most recently, Chef Jeff was appointed to the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington Board of Directors, and his restaurants are now popular DC staples.

Chef Jeffeary Miskiri

Chef Jeff has over 15 years of hospitality experience. He grew up in Takoma Park, MD, where he developed his love for cooking at a young age. After earning his Associate's Degree in Business Management, Chef Jeff wrote a business plan that won first place in a competition and a $10,000 grant to help him open his own restaurant. He later spent two years in New Orleans, LA, where he became well-versed in the heritage, culture, and style of Louisiana’s Creole and Cajun cuisine. In 2012, Chef Jeff opened Po Boy Jim, and since then, his restaurants have become DC staples.

Toya Miskiri

Toya Miskiri, Jeff's wife, is Vice President & Chief Operations Officer, as well as, Co-Founder of Creole on 14th, Suga & Spice, Miss Toya's Creole House, Miss Toya's Soul Juice and Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen. Miskiri Hospitality Group recently expanded to Cleveland, OH with House of Creole.

Daouda Coulibaly

Daouda began his culinary experience at the Riderwood Village senior living community at 17 years old. After successfully completing various restaurant positions, he transitioned his focus to his passion for cooking and curating gourmet dishes. He shadowed Riderwood Village's Executive Chef for 4 years and then entered culinary school to develop his technical approach and sharpen his skillset. After graduating, he entered the workforce again at Ruby Tuesday's. Later, he was offered a Line Cook position at Po Boy Jim and after for 4 years, he has elevated to his current role.

Po Boy Jim

Jeffeary Miskiri (Chef Jeff), founder, started Po Boy Jim in the summer of 2012. Chef Jeff, recognized the need for a new type of restaurant that specializes in traditional and uniquely crafter Po Boys which was non-existent at the time. His aim was to provide patrons with delicious food and beverages in a casual, rustic environment, paired with excellent customer service. Po Boy Jim features a full bar, indoor/outdoor dining areas and to-go options. We invite you to try the best Po Boys and Louisiana-style dishes like gumbo, creole pasta, voodoo wings and beyond in the District!

Creole on 14th

In 2020, they opened Creole on 14th a contemporary restaurant with unique dishes and craft cocktails inspired by the diverse cultures of New Orleans. Creole on 14th is located in the historic Tivoli Theater in Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washingto, DC. Known for its exceptional streetscape, endless allure and ceaseless excitement– Creole on 14th is where elegance and Southern charm meets the Nation's Capitol. Our innovative dishes, craft cocktails and attentive service are sure to create an experience you will remember.

Suga & Spice

In 2021, Miskiri Hospitality Group opened Suga & Spice, a vibrant and casual, Southern cuisne restaurant with a sprinkle of Caribbean flair. Suga & Spice is a blend of Chef Jeff's Southern and West Indian roots and Toya's, homemade baked goods. We invite you to indulge in the flavors of our kitchen and take a seat at our table.

House of Creole

In 2022, House of Creole opened in Cleveland, Ohio. Nestled in Downtown Cleveland, it brings cosmopolitan food, originating from New Orleans with European, African and Native American roots. It has quickly grown to be known as a local hotspot, with a thoughtfully curated ambiance serving hearty portions of delicious food!

Miss Toya's Creole House

MHG opened Miss Toya's Creole House in 2022, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Here you can indulge in a delicious full-course meal, while simultaneously enjoying some soulful 90’s R&B music, in a beautiful ambiance and sip a handcrafted specialty drink from our renowned mixologists. Miss Toya's offers a place of high energy and attracts a broad range of people of all ages, where one could enjoy an upscale dinner of steaks, seafood, pasta, entrée salads, and other dishes representing a more flexible style of eating.

Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen

Miss Toya's Southern Cajun Kitchen is the newest Cajun spot in the DMV. Located in Gaithersburg, Maryland since June 2023, MTSCK is a full-service Southern and Creole restaurant, with a menu featuring items such as Miss Toya’s Famous Fried Chicken and Jambalaya Rice. The Southern hospitality and homemade recipes make you feel like you have been transported to the South while enjoying your meal!
